Delete your account or data
You can permanently delete your WallGang account inside the app. You can also delete individual canvas posts, leave a room, or delete a room you own without deleting your account.
Deleting your account
Option 1 — Delete in the app
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside WallGang:
- Open WallGang on your phone.
- From Home, tap the gear-shaped Settings button.
- Scroll to the bottom of Settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the warning, then tap Delete Account to confirm. This can't be undone.
If the deletion request succeeds, WallGang deletes the account from the active authentication system, signs the account out, and returns the app to the welcome screen. If it fails, the app shows an error and the account remains in place so you can try again or contact support.
Option 2 — Request deletion through our contact form
If you cannot access the app, send a request through our contact form from the email associated with the account. Include your WallGang username. We will verify that you control the account before acting on the request.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove:
- Your authentication account, public profile, private birth-date record, and WallGang username;
- Your friendships, friend requests, blocks, room memberships, push tokens, notification records, reports, and WallGang's stored subscription-entitlement record;
- Your canvas posts, reactions, room chat messages, profile-wall content, and other database records tied to your account;
- Every room you own, including its canvas and chat, for all members of that room;
- Local private account data cached by WallGang on the device where you delete the account.
WallGang also attempts to remove files uploaded under your account from active storage, including canvas photos, display copies, avatars, wallpaper snapshots, thumbnails, share cards, and shuffle assets.
What may remain
Some information is outside the account record or belongs to someone else:
- Rooms owned by someone else. Your membership, posts, reactions, and chat messages are removed, but the room and content contributed by other people remain.
- Store and subscription records. Deleting WallGang does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Apple, Google, and RevenueCat may retain purchase and transaction records under their own legal and operational requirements.
- Backups and provider logs. Residual copies may remain in secured backups or operational logs until the provider's normal rotation removes them.
- Legally required records. We may retain limited information where the law requires it or to resolve disputes and prevent abuse.
- De-identified analytics. Aggregated data that can no longer identify you may be retained.
How long it takes
The in-app request removes the account and linked database records from the active service before WallGang reports success. Uploaded-file cleanup is attempted as part of the same request but does not block account deletion if a storage provider rejects an individual file. Backup and provider-log retention follows each provider's normal rotation; WallGang does not promise an unsupported fixed number of days.
Deleting some of your data without deleting your account
You don't have to delete your whole account to get rid of something. You can remove individual pieces of your data and keep using WallGang.
In the app
- Delete a canvas post. Open the room, press and hold a canvas item you are allowed to delete, and choose Delete. A post you delete is removed from the room for everyone. The room owner can also delete posts for moderation.
- Archive a photo or note. Choose Archive from the item's action menu to remove it from the live canvas without permanently deleting it. Archived posts remain in room history and can be restored from Layers.
- Leave a room you do not own. Open the room's options and tap Leave Room. You will need a new invitation to rejoin. Leaving does not delete posts you previously added.
- Delete a room you own. Open the room's options and tap Delete Room. This permanently deletes the room, its canvas, and its chat for every member.
By request
If the in-app controls do not cover the data you want removed, send a precise request through our contact form from the email associated with the account. Include your WallGang username and identify the room or content involved. We will verify account control and tell you what can be removed before making changes.
Good to know
- Deleting a canvas post is permanent. Archiving is the reversible option for eligible photos and notes.
- Leaving a room does not automatically delete what you posted there.
- Deleting a room you own deletes it for every member; leaving a room owned by someone else does not.
- The exceptions in What may remain above apply here too.
